What is a Statement of Purpose (SOP)?
Statement of Purpose (SOP) is the most important element in your application which will notify the admissions committee about who you are, what has made you choose your career path so far, what your professional interests are and what are your future plans.
Statement of Purpose (SOP) is the only part in your application where you have full control. Your SOP need not be all of bold statements and other heroics acts of yours. It is your chance to talk directly with the admissions committee that why you have selected this university, what are your qualifications, how you stand out of the competition and how eager you are to learn other things and gain extra knowledge.
What does admission committee looks for in your SOP?
· Why you want to study the program you have applied for?
· Correlation between the program you are applying for and your career goals
· Why this university / college?
· What are your motivational or driving forces?
· What are your past accomplishments?
How to write the Statement of Purpose (SOP)?
Write down all the past achievements
· Academic
· Extracurricular
· Other contributions
· Sports
· Awards
What do you want to do in your life, what career you want to choose and why?
How this course / program will help you achieve your long term goals which you have mentioned earlier?
Why did you select this university and explain about the majors and minors you intend to take in details.
